Kicks multifunction steering wheel failure

Hey, I'm having trouble with the multifunction steering wheel on my 2021 Nissan Kicks (gasoline engine). It's completely unresponsive, and there's an error code. Has anyone else run into this? It only has 37259 km, so I hope it's not a major issue.

Summary of the thread

The multifunction steering wheel on a 2021 Nissan Kicks became completely unresponsive, displaying an error code. Possible causes for this issue include a faulty fuse or a defective cable connection within the steering wheel. The suggested solution was to take the car to a reputable workshop for diagnosis and repair. The problem was resolved by fixing the defective cable connection, restoring full functionality to the steering wheel controls.

That does sound frustrating. When you say 'no longer possible,' do you mean none of the steering wheel controls work – volume, cruise control, phone, etc.? Or is it just one or two functions? Also, have you checked the fuses? It's a simple thing, but often overlooked. A faulty fuse could definitely cause intermittent connectivity problems.

Thanks for the quick reply! Yeah, none of the controls are working. The entire multifunction steering wheel is unresponsive. I haven't checked the fuses yet; I'm not very experienced with car maintenance. Could you tell me which fuse I should be looking for? Also, could a defective sensor cause this, too?

Given that all functions are non-operational, and you're not comfortable checking the fuses yourself, I would strongly suggest taking your Kicks to a reputable workshop. It does sound like it could be a defective cable connection within the steering wheel, as these Kicks can sometimes have that issue. Replacing it shouldn't be too expensive, I think. Without proper diagnostic tools, you might end up chasing shadows.

Thanks again for the advice. I took the car to the workshop today, and it turned out that the cable connection in the steering wheel was indeed defective, just as you suspected. The repair cost me 95€, which I think is reasonable. Everything is working perfectly again now.
