Kizashi Engine Misfire: Fuel & Power Loss Warning

My engine keeps running rough and drinking more fuel than usual. Power feels down, especially when accelerating, and I notice smoke coming from the exhaust. It also tends to stall when idling. Pretty sure its injection related, but last mechanic visit was a mess so looking for advice before picking a new shop. Running a 2015 Kizashi with 97621km on the clock. Anyone dealt with similar symptoms? What did it turn out to be and how was your repair experience?

Had similar issues with a 2012 Suzuki Swift 1.6L petrol. The symptoms matched exactly, rough engine, increased fuel consumption, power loss, and exhaust smoke. The system turned out to have multiple failing fuel injectors causing improper atomization. The engine control unit was receiving incorrect signals due to damaged wiring in the injection harness. The connector pins had corroded, leading to intermittent electrical contact. The repair required: Full diagnostic scan, Fuel pressure testing, Cleaning of fuel injection system, Replacement of two faulty injectors, Repair of wiring harness, New connector assembly This was a serious issue that could have led to catalytic converter damage if left unaddressed. The repair took two full days at the shop. After fixing, the engine ran smooth again with normal fuel consumption and no more stalling issues. Would strongly recommend getting it checked soon, as these symptoms typically worsen and can cause additional engine damage over time. A specialized fuel injection system diagnostic would be the best first step.

Thanks for sharing your Swift experience. This is super helpful as my Kizashi has been showing identical petrol consumption and power issues. Good to know it was the injectors and wiring, makes total sense given the symptoms. Did you remember roughly what the total repair cost was? Also wondering if youve had any maintenance issues since getting it fixed? My air filter is also due for replacement so might get that done at the same time if I need to take it in.

After getting the Suzuki Swift fixed, everything has been running perfectly. The engine performance went back to normal immediately after the repair. No more excess petrol consumption or rough running issues since then. The total repair cost was surprisingly reasonable at just 95€ for fixing the faulty injection system. It turned out to be a simpler fix than initially expected, just a damaged cable and plug connection that was causing the problems. No need to replace the actual injectors in my case. Getting the air filter changed while the car is at the shop makes good sense for preventive maintenance. A clean air filter helps maintain proper fuel mixture and prevents potential engine issues. The filter replacement is usually a quick job they can do while checking the injection system. The main thing is the car runs great now with no issues, smooth idle, normal fuel consumption, and proper power delivery. Shows how a relatively small electrical fault in the injection system can cause quite dramatic symptoms.

Finally got the Kizashi sorted last week. After your advice, I found a shop specializing in fuel injection systems. Turns out my issues were pretty similar, faulty injector wiring and a completely clogged injector. The repair cost more than yours at 450€, but they did a complete fuel system service including: New injector unit, Fixed wiring harness, Full system cleaning, New air filter, Fuel pressure test The power difference is incredible, engine runs smooth as new and fuel consumption is back to normal. No more stalling or rough idle issues. The maintenance schedule they gave me looks solid too. Really glad I got it checked when I did. The technician showed me how the old injector was misfiring and could have caused serious engine damage if left unfixed. Thanks for helping me avoid another frustrating mechanic experience.
