Kodiaq auxiliary heater malfunction

I'm getting seriously annoyed with my Kodiaq! It's a 2019 diesel, and the auxiliary heater is playing up. I can't activate the parking heater, and there's some error stored in the error memory. The whole heating system and climate control is acting weird! Any ideas what could be causing this? I'm hoping it's not too serious or expensive!

Sounds like a defective glow plug for your auxiliary heater which is a common issue. The auxiliary heater is basically a small, fuel-powered heater that warms up your car’s coolant, which then heats the cabin. The glow plug is what ignites the fuel. Does the error memory show a specific code?

A glow plug, huh? That's interesting. Never really understood how the auxiliary heating system worked, so thanks for explaining that! Is the glow plug something I could check myself, or is this definitely a workshop job?

While you could try to check the glow plug yourself, it often requires special tools and diagnostic equipment to properly access and test it. Plus, clearing the error code afterwards might need a specific scan tool. Based on your description, it really does sound like a faulty glow plug. Save yourself the hassle and potential for further problems and just take it to a workshop.

Okay, thanks a lot for your help! I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on – the glow plug for the auxiliary heater was indeed defective. Cost me 440€, but now I can enjoy the heating system again.
