Koleos belt handover issue
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Renault Koleos owner experienced a belt handover issue, suspecting the belt bringer was faulty. Another individual suggested that the problem might be related to the belt tensioner or idler pulleys, which could affect engine performance. After visiting a workshop, it was confirmed that the belt tensioner was defective, and the issue was resolved.

Hmm, interesting. You think it could be that? Is there any chance it's just the belt tensioner? I was quoted 455€ for a new belt bringer. Before paying, I'd like to be sure! How can I tell?

That's the same amount I paid. If the system doesn’t run smoothly, it’s usually a sign that the belt tensioner itself is faulty. In the absence of specialized diagnostic tools, I would advise you to take it to a workshop.

Thanks! I went to a workshop like you suggested. Turns out you were right. The belt tensioner was defective. Now everything is fixed!

Interesting. I had a similar thing with my Koleos. A belt handover issue is a bit like a relay race where the baton (or in this case, the belt tension) isn't passed smoothly. Was the serpentine belt replaced recently, or are the idler pulleys showing signs of wear? Bad engine performance sounds like the timing is off.
