Koleos Immobilizer Fault

My 2023 Renault Koleos with a gasoline engine is giving me major headaches. It's got 66723 km on the clock and the immobilizer seems to be playing up. Sometimes it won't start at all, other times it fires up for a second then dies. Plus, there's an error code stored, which I suspect points to the key programming being off. Anyone else experienced this security light nightmare?

Sounds frustrating! I had a similar issue with my Renault Koleos, though it's an older model. The symptoms you describe – engine starting then immediately cutting out, plus the error code – are classic immobilizer fault signs. Have you tried the spare key to rule out a faulty key signal?

Good shout on the spare key! I did try it, but no luck, same thing happens. Did your Koleos do the same? Any chance you remember any other details that might help?

Yes, the spare key didn't solve the problem for me either. Given that both keys are failing, it's unlikely to be a key issue itself, but more likely a problem with the immobilizer system in the car. In my experience, this is one for the workshop. They can properly diagnose and reprogram the immobilizer if needed.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience! I took it to the workshop as you suggested. Turns out, the key programming was indeed incorrect. Cost me 45€ to get it sorted. Massive relief!
