Koleos Oil Pressure Warning

I've got a 2009 Renault Koleos, diesel engine, with 137477 km. The oil pressure warning lamp lights up intermittently, and I'm hearing loud mechanical noises from the engine when it happens. Oil level is fine. Could it be the oil viscosity? I did an oil change about 8000 km ago.

Sounds concerning. When was the last time you changed your oil filter? Also, what kind of oil are you using? Maybe the wrong oil viscosity could cause issues, but those noises... are you sure the oil level is absolutely correct?

The oil filter was changed with the oil 8000 km ago. I used the oil recommended in the manual, I think it was 5W-30. The oil level is on the high mark, but what else could cause this?

Okay, oil and filter are relatively new and correct. Those noises combined with the low pressure light point towards a bigger issue, like the oil pump failing or even engine bearing problems. I wouldn't drive it much further. Get it checked ASAP.

I took it to a workshop, and it turned out the oil pump was faulty, like you suggested. Got it replaced; cost me 755€. Hopefully, that's the end of it.
