Koleos Radar Sensor Issue

I'm having issues with my 2018 Renault Koleos diesel. It's got about 73923 km on the clock. I've started getting an error message in the speedometer related to the radar sensor. This triggers a warning light and disables systems like the adaptive cruise control and collision avoidance. The error memory confirms a problem with the radar sensor. I've visually inspected the sensor area, but I don't see any obvious damage or obstructions. Could a dirty sensor really cause all these problems?

Sounds familiar! I've got a Koleos too. I had a similar thing happen last year, and all those systems went bonkers. Are you sure there's nothing blocking it? Even a tiny bit of mud can screw it up. Has it been properly calibrated since the issue?

I did give it a wipe with a cloth, but maybe I wasn't thorough enough. When you say calibration, do you mean that the sensor needs to be professionally aligned or something? I didn't even know that was a thing. Where is the sensor located exactly?

I'd bet money it needs recalibration. It's behind the front bumper, usually on the passenger side. I ended up just taking mine to a workshop; it's a bit too fiddly to do yourself unless you have the right kit. Better safe than sorry with those sensors; they control a lot. A faulty radar could cause an accident.

I'll take it to the workshop and get them to check the calibration. Turns out the sensor was just dirty. Cost me 45€ to have them clean it. All systems back to normal now!
