Koleos Solar Sensor Fault

I'm having an issue with my 2016 Renault Koleos, gasoline engine, with 223647 km. I have a fault related to the solar sensor. There's an error stored, and the climate control heating output is inadequate. I suspect a defective cable or plug connection. I haven't done diagnostics beyond reading the error code because I lack the equipment. Any insights or troubleshooting steps? The solar sensor provides data to the ECU about sunlight intensity, which adjusts the climate control system.

Summary of the thread

The issue with the 2016 Renault Koleos involves a fault related to the solar sensor, affecting the climate control system's heating output. The suspected causes include a defective cable or plug connection. Suggested solutions include inspecting the wiring harness and connector for damage or corrosion and clearing the error code with an OBD II scanner to see if it returns. Ultimately, professional diagnosis and repair at a workshop resolved the issue for 95€.

Sounds like a classic solar sensor issue. Have you checked the wiring harness and connector for corrosion or damage? Sometimes a simple visual inspection can reveal the problem. Also, did you clear the error code and see if it returns immediately?

Thanks for the quick response. I haven't inspected the wiring harness and connector yet, but I will. When you say clear the error code, do you mean using an OBD II scanner to reset the DTC associated with the solar sensor? Just want to be sure I'm doing it right.

Yep, clearing the code with an OBD scanner is what I meant. If it comes back right away, and you've checked the wiring, it's likely the sensor itself. Honestly, for 95€, and the potential hassle, I'd just get it sorted at a workshop.

Thanks for the confirmation and advice. I'll inspect the wiring. Given the low cost you mentioned and potential complexities, I agree a professional diagnosis and repair at a workshop is best. The repair was indeed 95€ and solved the low heating output.
