Kubistar Heavy Steering Vibration

No, I haven't had any wheel alignment work recently. So, if the sensor is faulty or mis-coded, is it likely to cause the power steering to feel heavier, almost as if it is cutting out? What kind of error codes should I be looking for specifically related to the steering angle sensor? I have access to an OBD2 scanner.

Yep, a faulty steering angle sensor can definitely mess with the power steering. Think of it this way: the car's computer gets confused about where the wheels are pointing, so it might reduce or cut off power assist as a safety measure. For error codes, look for anything related to steering angle sensor malfunction, calibration errors, or plausibility issues. Honestly, with those symptoms, I'd advise getting it checked by a pro. A bad sensor could also affect other systems. Better safe than sorry!

I appreciate your advice. After checking a few other things, I took your advice and brought the Kubistar to a workshop. You were spot on; the steering angle sensor was indeed defective due to incorrect coding! They recalibrated the sensor and performed a wheel alignment. The total cost was 195€, but the steering is now perfect. Thanks again!

Whoa, that sounds rough! Increased steering effort and vibrations are never a good sign. Since you mentioned the steering angle sensor, have you had any recent wheel alignment work? A misaligned wheel can definitely throw off the sensor and cause those symptoms. A defective sensor can mess with your traction control, as it relies on accurate steering angle data. Have you scanned for any error codes yet? That would point you in the right direction.
