Thanks for the quick reply! Yes, the mileage is 153969 km. I haven't specifically checked the cable and plug connection of the control unit itself. Where exactly is it located, and is it something I can easily inspect myself, or should I leave it to a professional?

Okay, with that mileage, it's quite possible the connection is the culprit. It's usually near the engine, but honestly, pinpointing it without proper tools and knowledge can be tricky. Considering the engine light and smoke, and your initial glow plug check being okay, I strongly suggest taking it to a workshop. A defective glow control unit can cause incomplete combustion and damage over time. Better safe than sorry!

Thanks a lot for the advice! I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on – it was indeed a defective cable/plug connection to the glow control unit. They fixed it for 95€, and now everything is working perfectly again! Really appreciate the help!

Hey there! Sounds like a faulty glow control unit, maybe? The symptoms definitely point in that direction, especially with a diesel. Have you checked the cable and plug connection of the control unit? Sometimes a loose or corroded connection can cause these issues. What's the mileage on your Kuga?
