Kuga Start Stop Failure

My 2019 Ford Kuga diesel's start-stop system is totally dead. It started a few weeks ago. Now, there's a warning light, and the error memory throws up start-stop errors. I've checked the fuses. The car's done 222126 km. Anyone else had this and know what might be causing it?

It sounds like your battery might be the culprit. Start-stop systems are very sensitive to battery condition. Is the battery original? How old is it?

Thanks for the tip! The battery is the original one, as far as I know. If the battery is weak, would that really stop the start-stop from working completely, and also trigger a warning light? Is there any way to check?

Yes, a heavily discharged or defective battery is a very common cause of start-stop failure in modern vehicles. Given the age of your Kuga and the original battery, it’s highly probable that the battery is no longer performing optimally. I advise getting it checked at a reputable workshop.

Thanks so much for your help! I took it to a local garage, and you were spot on – it was the battery. They replaced it, cleared the error codes, and now the start-stop is working again. Cost me 290€, but at least it's sorted.
