Kuga Transmission Control Unit Failure

Hi, my 2022 Ford Kuga hybrid is giving me some real headaches. It's got 122013 km on the clock. The paddle shifters are unresponsive, the gearbox is slipping, and making some nasty grinding noises. It also feels like the gearbox is in emergency mode and there is an error code saved. I'm suspecting it might be the transmission control unit (TCU). Anyone had similar issues?

Sounds rough. I had a similar experience with my old Opel Insignia – shifting problems and error codes galore. Could well be the TCU, which is basically the car computer for the transmission. Is the error code stored in the error memory related to the transmission itself?

Yeah, the error message is pointing towards some sort of transmission control failure. Did replacing the control module fix the problem with your Opel?

Yeah, replacing the transmission control module sorted it out. It's not a cheap fix, but it's usually the only real solution when the control unit goes bad. I'd suggest getting it checked out by a workshop to be sure, but it sounds like you're on the right track.

Thanks for the info! I took it to the shop, and they confirmed that the transmission control unit was defective. Repair including replacing the unit and programming it cost 1000€. At least it's running smoothly again.
