Lacetti Engine Malfunction
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Chevrolet Lacetti diesel experienced engine control issues, preventing it from starting. The initial suspicion was loose battery cable connections. After taking the car to a workshop, it was confirmed that the loose connections were indeed the problem. Cleaning and tightening the cables resolved the issue, and the engine is now functioning properly.

Thanks for the quick reply! The engine light is on, yes. But no unusual sounds, just the usual cranking without the engine actually firing up. What was the fix for yours? Was it also related to the battery?

In my case, the loose battery connection was indeed the culprit, but the issue was more complex. Get the car to a workshop, they'll run engine diagnostics and check the ECU. It could be something else entirely.

Thanks a bunch! I did as you suggested and took it to a workshop. Turns out you were right – it was the battery cable connections! They cleaned and tightened them, and everything's working fine now. Cost me 155€ Appreciate the help!

Hey, I had a similar issue with my Lacetti. Same symptoms, engine wouldn't start. Did you check if the engine light is on or if there are any unusual sounds when you try to start it?
