Lafesta Ignition Problems

Thanks for the insight! I haven't really paid attention to the weather, to be honest. It seems pretty random. No weird smells or noises that I've noticed, just sudden shutdowns or refusing to start. What exactly was the issue with your Lafesta, and how did you fix it? Was it a major job, or something I could potentially tackle myself?

Okay, so mine turned out to be a faulty ignition switch. The car's computer wasn't getting consistent voltage, which caused all sorts of mayhem. I tried cleaning the contacts, but it was a temporary fix. I highly recommend taking it to a workshop. Messing with the ignition system can be risky if you don't know what you're doing. They'll be able to diagnose it properly and replace the switch if needed. Save yourself the potential headache, trust me!

Cheers for the advice! I took it to a workshop, and you were spot on – it was the ignition switch. They replaced it for 52€, and now it's running like a dream. I really appreciate the help!

Whoa, sounds familiar! I had similar issues with my Lafesta. Rough running is the key phrase here. When the engine is running rough that usually means the car's computer is struggling to keep the engine running smoothly, often because it's not getting consistent power. Ignition switch problems are common. Have you noticed if it happens more when it's hot or cold? Any weird smells or noises before it shuts off? By the way, the ignition coil is responsible for providing high voltage to the spark plugs, which ignite the air-fuel mixture in the engine cylinders. The starter motor cranks the engine to start it.
