Laguna Cruise Control Fault

Good day. I am writing to inquire about a peculiar issue I have encountered with my 2005 Renault Laguna, equipped with a gasoline engine. The vehicle has approximately 181243 kilometers on the odometer. Recently, the cruise control system has ceased functioning. Upon starting the vehicle, an error message is displayed within the speedometer cluster, indicating a malfunction related to the cruise control. Subsequently, the system remains inoperative. Diagnostic analysis revealed an error stored within the system's memory. Based on preliminary assessments, it appears that a defective cable or plug connection associated with the cruise control component could be the underlying cause. Has anyone else experienced a similar issue, or could perhaps offer some insight into diagnosing this problem?

A defective cable or plug is indeed a plausible cause, particularly given the car's age and mileage. Have you inspected the throttle body connection? Intermittent issues there can sometimes manifest as cruise control failure. Was the diagnostic performed with a Renault-specific tool?

Thank you for the swift response. With regard to the throttle body connection, I have visually inspected the connector, but I do not have the specialized equipment to thoroughly test its electrical integrity or perform a dynamic test. Concerning the diagnostic tool, it was not a Renault-specific device; rather, a generic OBD-II scanner was utilized for error code retrieval. Would employing a Renault-specific diagnostic tool potentially yield more precise fault information?

Correct, a Renault-specific tool is advisable for deeper diagnostics. The generic scanner might not access all relevant control modules or provide specific fault codes related to Renault's cruise control system. Given your findings and lack of specialized equipment for comprehensive testing, I recommend seeking professional assistance from a qualified workshop.

Understood. I appreciate the confirmation and recommendation. I will schedule an appointment with a trusted workshop to conduct a more thorough diagnostic evaluation using Renault-specific equipment. As a point of closure, the issue was indeed a faulty connector. The repair, including parts and labor, amounted to 95€. Thank you again for your time and expertise.
