Laguna DPF issue
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Renault Laguna diesel with 173,654 km is experiencing reduced engine power, exhaust smoke during acceleration, and a constant engine light, suggesting a potential diesel particulate filter (DPF) issue. The symptoms align with a blocked DPF, which can cause backpressure in the exhaust system. It is recommended to have the vehicle checked at a workshop, as DPF failure is likely, and replacement can be costly.

Thanks. The engine light stays on. I haven't checked the backpressure. Is that easy to check, or do I need special equipment?

Constant light is a bad sign. You'd need a gauge for backpressure testing. Given the symptoms, age, and mileage, DPF failure is likely. Get it checked at a workshop, those filters aren't cheap. I had to replace a filter, cost me around 1550€.

Thanks for the advice. I guess I need to visit a workshop. I'll get the exhaust system checked and maybe replace the filter. Thanks again for sharing your experience.

Sounds familiar. I had something similar with my Laguna. Is the engine light constantly on, or does it flash? Have you checked for backpressure in the exhaust system? It could point to a blocked DPF.
