Laguna electronic parking brake fault

Alright, mechanics, diagnostics are driving me batty. My 2008 Renault Laguna gasoline is showing a persistent electronic parking brake fault at 222793 km. Handbrake's dead, error light's blazing on the dash, and the error memory confirms it. I'm suspecting a duff electric motor in the brake caliper, anyone seen this before?

Brake diagnostics were run at the last service, anything specific I can check regarding the brake control?

It's very likely the brake fault. I went through the same headache. Ended up biting the bullet and had it sorted at the workshop, though. I paid around 505€ and it got fixed.
