Yep, pretty much the same song and dance. Gear indicator went haywire, shifting felt like a lottery, and the grinding noise was hard to ignore. I bit the bullet and took it to a workshop specializing in automotive electronics. They confirmed the control unit issue. It's not a cheap fix, sadly, but it sorted everything out.

Thank you for confirming my suspicions and sharing your experience. I will proceed with taking my vehicle to a reputable workshop for diagnosis and repair of the control unit. It seems my anticipated repair cost of around 1000€ is realistic.

Wow, that sounds rough. I've got a Laguna too. Similar issues cropped up for me a while back. Was the error code related to the transmission control module, by any chance?
