Latio rough idle and stalling

My 2008 Nissan Latio with a diesel engine is a nightmare to start. It's got 111048 km on the clock, and lately, fuel consumption has gone through the roof, and the engine feels like it's lost power. The idling is all over the place, and sometimes it even stalls when I'm stopped. Could it be the injection nozzle? I'm thinking maybe it's just clogged? Anyone else had this?

Sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms with my Latio. Rough starts, poor fuel economy, and the occasional stall. Have you checked for any misfires or codes?

Misfires, huh? I haven't checked for that specifically. Where would I even start looking for misfires? Is that something I can diagnose myself, or am I better off taking it to a shop?

Misfires can cause those issues. In my case, it turned out to be a faulty injector. Considering your symptoms, especially the poor idling and stalling, it's worth checking out. Honestly, unless you're really comfortable with engine diagnostics, I'd suggest getting it checked by a professional. They'll have the tools to properly diagnose and fix it.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a mechanic, and you were spot on. Turns out the injection nozzle was indeed defective and dirty. They cleaned everything up and replaced a few parts. Cost me around 515€, but it's running like new again. Appreciate the help!
