Latitude ABS and Lateral Sensor Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2015 Renault Latitude is experiencing ABS errors, with the ABS lamp lit and a scan indicating a lateral acceleration sensor fault. The issue may stem from a defective control unit. A similar problem in another vehicle was resolved by checking the wiring for loose connections or corrosion and replacing a faulty sensor, followed by recalibrating the steering angle. A workshop visit may be necessary for a thorough diagnosis and repair.

Interesting. Thanks for the insight. Did your Volvo also throw specific codes related to lateral acceleration, or were they more generic ABS failure codes? I'm trying to narrow down if it's a sensor malfunction or a deeper issue within the ABS module's electronic control.

From memory, it was throwing generic ABS codes, but after some deeper investigation with a better diagnostic tool, we isolated it to the yaw rate sensor. It's worth checking the wiring. However, I had to take it to a workshop in the end, as the sensor was faulty and had to be replaced, plus the steering angle needed to be recalibrated afterwards.

Appreciate the confirmation! I'll check the wiring, but it sounds like a trip to the workshop is inevitable. The estimate is around 1000€, as they are quoting a new lateral acceleration sensor and recalibration. Thanks again for sharing your experience; it’s helpful to know someone else has battled something similar.

Hey, that sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my old Volvo V70 a few years back. ABS light, stability control going haywire...turned out to be a faulty yaw rate sensor. Have you checked the wiring to the sensor itself? Could be a loose connection or corrosion.
