Latitude Air Leak

Hey, I've got a 2012 Renault Latitude with a gasoline engine that's giving me some grief. Lately, my fuel consumption has gone way up, and the check engine light is on. I also hear a loud hissing sound when I accelerate. Could this be related to a leak in the air intake system? I was thinking maybe an intake hose, but I'm not sure where to start looking.

Sounds familiar! I had almost the exact same symptoms with my Latitude a while back – the hissing, the check engine light, the terrible fuel economy... it was driving me nuts. Have you checked around the turbocharger? That's where my air leak ended up being.

Thanks for the quick reply! Around the turbocharger, you say? Was it a specific hose or connection there that was the culprit? Just trying to narrow down my search area before I start tearing things apart.

Yep, for me it was a split in one of the smaller hoses connected to the intake manifold near the turbo. Honestly, unless you're really confident working on it yourself, I'd suggest getting a mechanic to take a look. It's a fiddly job and you don't want to mess anything else up.

Appreciate the advice! I had a mechanic check it out, and you were spot on – a cracked intake hose near the turbo. The whole repair cost around 100€, but at least the hissing is gone and the fuel economy is back to normal. Thanks again for the help!
