Latitude camshaft sensor fault

My 2012 Renault Latitude with a gasoline engine is acting up. Mileage is at 98829 km. It starts poorly, engine power is noticeably reduced, and the error memory shows a camshaft sensor fault. I suspect a defective cable or plug connection. Anyone else seen this?

Sounds familiar! I've got a Latitude too, and I had similar symptoms not too long ago. Rough idling, sluggish acceleration... It was driving me crazy. Camshaft sensor, you say? Did you check the crankshaft sensor as well? Sometimes they play together. Also, check for timing issues.

Thanks for the quick reply! I suspected timing issues as well. You mentioned the crankshaft sensor; did you replace yours? Was it difficult to access, and did that fix the problem entirely?

I didn't replace the crankshaft sensor in the end. I checked the connections, fiddled with the wiring, and the problem persisted. My mechanic said it could be the sensor itself. In the end, I didn't want to mess with it myself and took it to the workshop. They sorted it out pretty quickly and it wasn't expensive. It was probably just the camshaft sensor indeed, plus the labor cost.

Appreciate the insight. I'll double-check the connections again, but it sounds like a trip to the shop is inevitable. The quote I received for sensor replacement is around 95€. Thanks again for confirming my suspicions and sharing your experience!
