Latitude electronic parking brake failure
Summary of the thread
A 2011 Renault Latitude owner is experiencing an electronic parking brake failure, indicated by a warning light and error memory fault. The suspected cause is a defective electric motor in the brake caliper. Another owner suggests that it could also be a faulty brake switch or system glitch and recommends a professional diagnostic check. Ultimately, replacing the motor in the caliper may be necessary to resolve the issue.

Thanks. I don't recall anything unusual happening before it failed. It just happened during normal driving. Is there anything I should check first, or any simple tests before I go for an expensive repair?

Okay. I tried the brake switch first, but that didn't fix it. You really need a proper brake diagnostic at a workshop to find the exact problem. I ended up replacing the motor in the calliper. You can't really ignore it for safety reasons.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I'll get a diagnostic check at a workshop based on your advice. I was quoted around 505€ for the repair. Thanks for your help!

I have a Latitude too, and I had something similar happen. It could be a faulty brake switch or a system glitch. Do you remember anything specific happening before the light came on? Like using the handbrake on a steep hill or while moving?
