There's no noise from the motor when I try to use the sun blind. This makes me think the motor failed. Did you confirm a motor failure in your BMW? Did you try any other solutions before replacing it?

Yeah, I gave up and took it to a mechanic. It WAS the motor. Apparently, they can seize up. There weren't any easy fixes. They said it was best to replace the whole unit to avoid future problems. Looks like you may have the same issue. But hey, maybe you'll get lucky!

I appreciate you sharing your experience. A workshop visit seems likely. I got a quote of 330€ for the replacement, including parts and labor. I'll go ahead with the repair and hope it lasts. Thanks again for confirming my thoughts and for the advice.

Wow, that sounds frustrating! I had the same thing with my old BMW 3 Series, but it was the side window sun blind. Up and down it went, then just stopped. Drove me nuts, especially in summer. Is the motor making any noise when you try to operate it? Maybe you can hear if it's trying to work?
