Lexus ES Electronic Parking Brake Malfunction
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Lexus ES is experiencing a malfunction with its electronic parking brake, indicated by a warning light and stored error. The issue may be due to a defective electric motor in the brake caliper, as suggested by another owner with a similar problem. Checking the brake switch and control module is recommended, but a visit to the workshop for a professional diagnosis and repair is advised for safety.

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't checked the brake switch yet; I'll add that to the list. And yes, that hill scenario is exactly what I'm afraid of! What was the final diagnosis in your case?

Turns out it was a defective electric motor in the brake calliper on mine. The workshop quoted me 505€ for the repair, so I just went ahead and got it fixed. I'd recommend getting it checked out ASAP for safety.

Appreciate the confirmation! Looks like I'm heading to the workshop. Thanks for sharing your experience; hopefully, it's the same issue and not something more complicated.

Sounds familiar. I had almost the same issue with my ES. Have you checked the brake switch? I'd suspect the brake control module. Was it showing any other symptoms? Imagine you want to stop on a hill and suddenly the parking brake decides to release.
