Thanks for the quick reply. Slipping is a good way to describe it. Where exactly is the transmission sensor located? Is it something I can check myself or do I need special tools?

I wouldn't recommend messing with it yourself unless you know what you're doing. In my case, the affected control unit was defective, so better go to the workshop.

Okay, thanks for the advice. I took it to a mechanic. The control unit was indeed defective, and the repair cost me around 1000€. Problem solved.

Sounds familiar. I had similar transmission issues with my ES. Does it feel like it's slipping between gears sometimes? Could be a faulty transmission sensor. Check your shift lock and park brake too.
