Lexus GS engine power loss and smoke

I've got a 2004 Lexus GS with a gasoline engine and I'm having a weird issue. The check engine light came on, and I've noticed a definite drop in engine power. Plus, I'm seeing some smoke when I really accelerate. I'm thinking it might be the crankcase ventilation valve, but I'm not sure. Anyone else run into this?

I had something similar happen on my GS. Check Engine light, power loss... It could be a PCV valve issue. Have you noticed any unusual smells or whistling sounds from the engine? Also, what's the mileage? Mine acted up around similar mileage.

Thanks for the quick reply! No weird smells or whistling, just the smoke and power loss. The mileage is around 105323 km. Was it definitely the PCV valve for you? And was it a pain to fix?

Yeah, sounds like it could very well be the PCV. Given the symptoms and mileage, that's the first thing I'd suspect. Honestly, I didn't attempt the repair myself. I took it to a workshop because I wasn't 100% sure and didn't want to mess anything up. Turned out the valve was defective and causing a leak. Might be worth getting it checked out professionally. Better safe than sorry!

Appreciate the insight! I think you're right, I'll take it to a workshop and have them take a look. They confirmed it was the crankcase ventilation valve and replaced it for 360€. Thanks again for your help!
