Lexus IS Hissing Noise and Fuel Consumption

Alright, I'm pulling my hair out here! I've got a 2001 Lexus IS with a gasoline engine, and lately, it's been drinking fuel like crazy. The check engine light is on, and there's this loud hissing sound when I accelerate. Could it be the air intake, maybe an intake hose leak? Anyone dealt with this before?

Whoa, hissing sound? That's rough! I had a similar thing happen with my old Opel Corsa. Check engine light, weird noises...turned out to be a cracked hose in the air intake system. Was your fuel consumption much higher too?

A cracked hose, eh? Hmm, where exactly was the hose located on your Corsa? Was it easy to spot, or did you have to hunt around for it?

Yeah, it was tucked away near the intake manifold, a real pain to see at first. I didn't catch it until I really started poking around. Honestly, I'd take it to a shop, it'll save you a headache, trust me!

Thanks for the advice! Took it to the workshop, and you were spot on – leaky intake hose! New hose set me back 100€, but the hissing is gone, and the fuel consumption is back to normal. Check engine light is gone too. You saved me!
