Lexus IS hybrid engine stalling

I'm having an issue with my 2020 Lexus IS hybrid at 187457 km. The check engine light is on, the engine occasionally stalls at idle, and engine power is noticeably reduced. Preliminary diagnostics suggest a defective fuel volume regulator, possibly due to a failing high-pressure fuel pump. Has anyone experienced similar symptoms?

Hey there! I know that feeling. I had something real similar happen with my IS, though it was a gas engine. Check engine light was on, car was chugging, acting like it wanted to quit. For me, it turned out to be something to do with the fuel injection. Fuel injection: that's how your engine gets the right amount of gas mixed with air, so it runs right. Did you ever notice worse gas mileage?

Thank you for your response. Indeed, I did notice a decrease in fuel economy recently. Could you please elaborate on the specific component that failed in your case, and if the symptoms align with those of my vehicle?

Well, if your fuel economy is suffering, it's almost certain. Thing is, I can't remember the exact part. But it was on the fuel line somewhere, and my mechanic – good guy, he explained it to me – said it was messing with the fuel pressure. Fuel pressure is just how hard the fuel is pushed into the engine. I'd say get it looked at by a professional mechanic. They'll run some tests, it's likely the high pressure pump has gone wrong and they'll be able to put you right.

I appreciate your insights. Following your advice, I took the vehicle to a certified Lexus technician. The diagnosis confirmed a defective fuel volume regulator, attributed to a failing high-pressure fuel pump. The repair, including parts and labor, amounted to 1510€.
