Lexus IS preheating lamp issue

Hey, I'm having some trouble with my 2009 Lexus IS diesel. The preheating lamp won't switch off, the check engine light is on, and it's blowing smoke when I accelerate. I've checked the usual stuff, but I suspect it's the glow control unit. Any ideas?

Thanks a bunch for your help! I took it to a workshop, and you were spot on – it was a defective plug connection at the control unit. Cost me 95€ to fix!
