Lexus IS transmission sensor fault
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Lexus IS diesel experienced engine and transmission warning lights, with diagnostics indicating a transmission oil pressure sensor fault. Symptoms included the gearbox entering emergency mode, slipping during gear changes, rough shifting, and grinding noises, possibly due to low gearbox oil. The issue was resolved by replacing the faulty sensor and adding transmission oil, which cost 365€.

Thanks. I haven't checked the oil level yet. I wanted to get some info first. Did checking/adjusting the oil fix it for you, or did you need more work done?

Topping off the oil didn't completely fix it. The problem was still there. I took it to a shop. They confirmed the sensor fault and recommended replacing it. I'd suggest doing the same to prevent more damage.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a workshop, and they confirmed the pressure sensor fault. Replacing the sensor and adding transmission oil cost 365€, and it fixed the problem.

I had something similar with my IS. Almost the same symptoms: engine warning light, rough shifting, and then limp mode. Low oil could be it. Have you checked the level yourself? What did you find?
