Lexus LC Oil Pressure Warning

I have a concerning issue regarding my 2023 Lexus LC with a gasoline engine. The oil pressure warning lamp is illuminating intermittently, accompanied by loud mechanical noises from the engine. The vehicle has about 179432 km on it. I've checked the engine oil level and viscosity, and I don't see any obvious oil leaks. Could this be a serious problem, or just a faulty oil pressure sensor?

I had a similar issue with my 2018 Volvo XC60. The low oil pressure light came on, and the engine sounded terrible. In my case, it was a clogged oil filter. Have you checked yours? Also, what weight of oil are you using?

Thanks for the quick response. I haven't specifically checked the oil filter, but the last oil change was about 10,000 km ago. Could a partially clogged oil filter really cause such pronounced symptoms? I'm using the oil viscosity grade recommended by Lexus in the owner's manual.

Yes, a partially clogged oil filter can absolutely cause those symptoms. The engine isn't getting enough lubrication. Given the noise you are hearing, it could be something more serious, like the oil pump itself. My Volvo needed a new one. Honestly, with those sounds, you probably need to get it to a workshop as soon as possible.

I appreciate the insights and shared experience. A professional diagnosis seems warranted. I'll schedule an appointment with my trusted service center to find the cause and fix it. It turned out to be a defect in the oil pump; the repair cost was 755€.
