Fiddling with the volume, you say? Before it died, I didn’t notice any static or distortion. It just stopped suddenly. Could you elaborate on the 'bad connection' you encountered in your Volvo? Was it a simple matter of re-seating a cable, or something more involved?

Well, 'simple' is relative! In my Volvo, it wasn't just a loose wire. The connection had corroded over time. It's like when your phone charger gets wonky. My mechanic had to disassemble half the dashboard to get to it. Given you have an error code pointing to the display, and the sudden failure, I'd say it's probably worth taking it to a workshop. They'll have the tools and expertise to diagnose it properly. Could save you a lot of headache!

Thanks for sharing your experience! A corroded connection… Anyway, your advice has been invaluable. I took it to a reputable workshop, and it turns out the display was indeed defective, as the initial diagnostic suggested. The repair cost me 725€, but at least the sweet melodies have returned to my Lexus. Thanks again!

Sounds familiar! I had something similar happen in my old Volvo V70. The whole audio unit just died. Did you notice any static or distorted sound before it went completely silent? In my case, it turned out to be a bad connection in the head unit. Have you checked the fuses, or perhaps tried fiddling with the volume control and dashboard controls to see if it's just a glitch?
