Lexus LX Diesel Particulate Filter Issue

I have a 2023 Lexus LX diesel with about 161,790 kilometers. I've noticed less engine power and smoke when accelerating. I think it might be a bad diesel particulate filter (DPF). Has anyone else had this?

I also have an LX, though it's an older model. Your symptoms do sound like DPF problems. The DPF traps soot, and a malfunction can cause those issues. Have you seen any changes in your fuel efficiency? A bad DPF can trigger a sensor fault, affecting the air-fuel mixture and fuel consumption. Also, have you had a vehicle inspection?

Thanks. I haven't watched fuel efficiency, but I will. Would a standard OBD2 scanner detect the sensor fault? Also, would a DPF cleaning help?

You're welcome. A standard OBD2 scanner should pick up most sensor faults related to the exhaust system and DPF. Cleaning might help temporarily, but with that mileage and those symptoms, it could be a bigger problem. Mine was the DPF. I'd suggest a good workshop to check the DPF and exhaust system. They can run tests to find the cause and advise on what to do.

Thanks for the advice. A workshop visit seems best. You were right. The garage says the DPF is bad and needs replacing. The total will be about 1550€.
