Lexus LX Overheating and Control Unit Error

Hey, I'm having some trouble with my 2016 Lexus LX with a gasoline engine. Recently, the check engine light came on, and the engine seems to be overheating. I also noticed some coolant spilling under the car. Took it to a local shop, and they mentioned something about a control unit communication error. Has anyone experienced similar issues? Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Sounds familiar! I've got a Lexus LX as well, and I had a similar thing happen a while back. Check engine light, overheating... pretty much the same deal. I'm no expert, but have they checked the cable connections to the control unit? Might be a connectivity issue.

Thanks for the quick reply! When you had this issue, did they tell you a specific diagnostic trouble code? I'm just trying to gather as much info as possible before I take it back to the shop.

Honestly, I can't recall the exact code. But yeah, it was a control unit communication fault for sure. From what I remember, they checked the wiring and found a faulty connection. If you're seeing overheating and coolant spills, best to get it looked at sooner rather than later. Likely a defective connection in the engine cooling system area.

Appreciate the insight! I took it back to the workshop, and you were spot on. It was indeed a defective cable connection to the control unit, causing the communication error. Repair cost was 95€. Thanks again for your help!
