Lexus LX transmission oil pressure fault

I'm having a weird issue with my 2006 Lexus LX with the gasoline engine. I've got 242652 km on the clock. The engine light is on, and sometimes the transmission light comes on too. I pulled the codes and it's showing a transmission oil pressure sensor fault. Sometimes it feels like the gearbox is slipping or shifting rough, and once or twice I thought I heard a slight grinding noise. I checked the obvious stuff like making sure the shift linkage is okay, but honestly, I'm not sure where to go from here. Any ideas?

I had something similar happen with my LX. Is it going into some sort of limp mode, where it barely wants to shift? I'd check the gearbox oil level, first thing. Low oil can definitely trigger that sensor and cause all sorts of weird shifting issues.

Limp mode is exactly what's happening! Where exactly did you check the oil level? And how much of a pain was it to get to? Is there a dipstick or do you have to get under the vehicle?

Sounds like the same headache I had. There's no dipstick, you have to get under the vehicle. Honestly, it's a bit of a messy job and you need some specific tools, so I ended up just taking it to a workshop. They found the oil level was indeed low, topped it off, and that fixed the oil pressure sensor fault. They cleared the codes and it's been running fine ever since.

Thanks for the help! Took it to the workshop and you were spot on. Gearbox oil was low. They topped it up and replaced the oil sensor for 365€. Runs like a dream now!
