Lexus NX Overheating Bypass Valve Error

I'm worried about my 2023 Lexus NX with a gasoline engine. It's showing some concerning symptoms. I've got 116884 km on the clock, and recently the engine started overheating. A local garage found an error stored in the error memory related to the bypass valve. They mentioned it might be a consequential error resulting from something else, but they weren't sure what. Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Hey, I have an NX too. Sounds vaguely familiar. Was the error specifically related to the air intake or the exhaust system, or did they give you a specific code? Sometimes a small vacuum leak can cause the bypass valve to act up and throw other systems off. Check for any hissing noises around the engine bay when it's running.

Thanks for the quick reply! They didn't mention a specific code, just that it was related to the bypass valve. I'll definitely check for hissing noises, but where exactly should I be listening? Is there a common place for vacuum leaks in the NX?

Honestly, without the specific code, it's tough to say for sure. My problem turned out to be more complex than a simple leak. I ended up taking mine to the official Lexus workshop in the end. I recommend you do the same.

Thanks so much for your help and advice! I went to the Lexus workshop. Turns out it was a faulty sensor causing all sorts of mayhem, including the bypass valve error. They replaced the sensor, and everything is running smoothly now. Luckily, the repair was covered under warranty, so the eventual repair cost was 0€!
