Lexus NX solar sensor error low heating output
Summary of the thread
A 2015 Lexus NX is experiencing a solar sensor error, leading to low heating output even when the engine is warm. The issue might be due to a defective cable or plug related to the HVAC daylight sensor. It is suggested to use a multimeter to check the sensor's functionality, but visiting a workshop is recommended to avoid further complications. The repair cost is estimated at around 95€.

Yes, exactly, the daylight sensor for the HVAC. I haven't used a multimeter yet, but that's next. I was hoping someone might know of common failure points, or if there are any known TSBs related to this on the NX.

Given the symptoms and that you haven't confirmed the sensor's functionality with a multimeter, and given the potential for a faulty cable or plug, it might be best to visit a workshop. Messing with the HVAC system can sometimes lead to further complications. For me, the repair cost amounted to 95€.

Thanks for the advice! I've booked it in at the workshop to get it sorted. They've quoted around 95€, so that matches your experience.

Interesting issue! Are you referring to the HVAC sensor that measures sunlight to adjust the climate control? It affects the heating output and the overall system's efficiency. Is the sensor itself faulty, or is it just a connection issue? Did you measure the voltage?
