Lexus SC Coolant Loss

I'm concerned about my 2004 Lexus SC with a gasoline engine. The coolant level is consistently low, triggering the check engine light and storing an error code. I've checked for obvious leaks but found nothing. Could this be related to the cooling fan, water pump, head gasket, engine overheating or the radiator cap?

I had a similar issue with my old Volvo. Coolant disappearing act! Check the small hoses, especially those near the engine block; they can develop pinhole leaks that are hard to spot. Also, any strange smells, like a sweet odor after the engine warms up?

Thanks for the insight! You mentioned pinhole leaks. Were they actually visible, or did you find them another way? I haven't noticed any sweet smells, but I'll keep an eye (and nose) out!

They were almost invisible! The mechanic found them by pressure testing the cooling system. It's worth a shot. Given it's a Lexus, I'd take it to a trusted workshop to get it checked out properly. Could save you a headache down the line.

Appreciate the advice. It turned out to be a leak in one of the smaller coolant hoses, just like you suggested! The workshop charged me 52€ to replace it. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
