Lexus SC engine oil temperature warning light

I'm having an odd issue with my 2003 Lexus SC with a gasoline engine. The engine oil temperature warning light is on, and an error is stored. Sometimes, the oil pressure warning lamp lights up too. I suspect it might be the engine oil temperature sensor. I checked the wiring and connectors, and they seem okay, but I'm still leaning towards a defective cable or plug connection. Anyone experienced something similar?

Hey, I also own an SC and I had a similar problem a while back. The oil gauge was acting up and the temp sensor seemed to be the culprit. Have you checked the sensor itself, or just the wiring?

Thanks for the quick reply! I've only visually inspected the wiring and connectors so far. How did you eventually resolve your issue? Was it definitely the sensor, and if so, was it difficult to replace?

Well, after checking the same things you did, I ended up taking mine to a workshop. They confirmed it was the sensor. I'd suggest doing the same, as it could save you some time and potential headaches.

Appreciate the advice! I took it to my mechanic, and you were right. It was the engine oil temperature sensor. Cable or plug connection of the component was defective. Repair cost me 95€ Thanks again!
