Lexus SC Jerking Acceleration
Summary of the thread
A 2000 Lexus SC was experiencing jerking acceleration, a check engine light, whistling and hissing noises, increased fuel consumption, and power loss. The suspected causes included a bad boost pressure sensor or defective cable connections. It was advised to check air intake hoses for cracks and loose connections. Ultimately, a workshop confirmed the issue was indeed the boost pressure sensor and a defective cable connection, which were repaired, resolving the problem.

Thanks for the quick reply! Yes, it does seem a bit worse when the engine is cold. Where exactly should I be looking for the pressure sensor? And how would I check the connections properly? I'm not that experienced with car repairs.

Honestly, if it's that bad and you're not super confident, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. Pressure sensor issues can mess with your turbo and you don't want to make things worse. Could be a quick fix, but best to get it checked out by a pro.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I took it to the workshop and you were spot on. It was indeed the boost pressure sensor and a defective cable connection. They replaced the sensor, fixed the connection, and now it's running like new again. Cost me 95€ but well worth it. Appreciate the help!

Sounds rough. I had a similar problem with my Lexus SC. Is it worse when the engine is cold? Could be the pressure sensor or somewhere in the turbo system. Check all the air intake hoses for cracks and loose connections. That whistling noise is a classic symptom.
