Lexus SC System Readiness Check Issue

Hey, I've got a 2004 Lexus SC with a gasoline engine and about 57k kilometers on it. I recently had it hooked up to an OBD2 scanner, and now the system readiness check won't complete. I'm getting an error stored and a message on the speedometer. Any ideas what could be causing this? It needs inspection soon, and I'm worried it'll fail emissions.

I had a similar problem with my old Saab. Different brand, I know, but the issue sounds familiar. After scanning, the "OBD readiness" was not set. Have you tried resetting the computer?

Resetting the computer, huh? Is that something I can do myself, or does it require special equipment? And what do you mean exactly by "OBD readiness"?

On the Saab, I had to take it to a workshop. I believe OBD readiness refers to the car's internal checks being fully completed after a scan or reset. If the system readiness check is incomplete, it won't pass inspection.

Thanks! Turns out it was a simple computer reset during the diagnostics that messed it up. The vehicle inspection guys just cleared the error memory, did a quick reset themselves and all was fine again. Cost me nothing!
