Thank you for sharing your experience. Is the pressure switch something that can be checked with standard OBD tools, or does it require specific diagnostic equipment? I will inspect the oil level as well, but I'm curious about how you diagnosed the pressure switch issue.

The pressure switch fault can be read through the OBD, but you'll need a decent scanner that can read transmission-specific codes. A generic OBD reader might not cut it. In my case, the fault code pointed directly to the pressure switch circuit. Given your symptoms, checking the oil level is definitely step one, but if that's fine, I'd recommend visiting a workshop to have the codes read and the sensor properly diagnosed.

Understood. I appreciate the advice. It turned out that you were right about the oil level being the issue, but unfortunately there was also some damage to the pressure gauge. After topping it off, I needed to change the sensor for 365€.

I had a similar problem with my older BMW 5 Series. Same symptoms - MIL light, slipping, and eventually emergency mode. For me, it turned out to be a faulty transmission pressure switch. Have you checked the oil level, as that can trigger these symptoms? It's often the simplest thing to overlook!
