LFA Gearbox Slippage

I've got a 2010 Lexus LFA with a gasoline engine. At 223843 km, I'm seeing slippage and unclean shifting. Diagnostics point to transfer case oil wear. Could defective gears be the cause?

Whoa, LFA! Nice ride! I had similar shifting weirdness on mine – not fun. Was your gear grinding, especially on downshifts? Did you check the transfer case oil? Mechanical wear can do a number on those gears, like, make the oil look metallic and nasty. When was the last time you changed your gear oil?

Thanks! There is a grinding sound, mostly on downshifts. The gear oil shows wear. The gear oil was last changed about 50000 km ago. Can you tell me more about your experience and the grinding?

Yep, that grinding sound sealed the deal for me. Metallic oil and grinding are textbook. Honestly, I nursed it for a bit, but it got worse fast. Bite the bullet and get it checked by a reputable workshop. They'll confirm the gear damage and give you the bad news. Better now than when it leaves you stranded!

Thanks, that's helpful. I saw a technician, and they agreed it's defective gears in the transfer case. The repair was about 330€. Thanks for the help!
