The security light does flash. I only have one key, unfortunately. Could the key programming really be the issue?

A flashing security light and only one key definitely points to a key programming problem. It's likely the immobilizer isn't recognizing the key properly. I'd recommend taking it to a workshop with the right diagnostic tools to reprogram the key. It's the most common fix for these symptoms.

Thanks for the help. Took it to a shop and they reprogrammed the key, cost me 45€. All good now.

Sounds like a pain! Does the security light flash when you try to start it? Have you tried using your spare key? Maybe the chip in your usual key is damaged or the programming got corrupted somehow. Does your LFA have remote start?
