LFA sporadic errors

My 2012 Lexus LFA with its gasoline-powered V10 is throwing me for a loop. I'm getting sporadic errors in driving mode. Sometimes, the error lamps light up, and occasionally, systems like the audio/navigation just quit. I've even had the control units temporarily shut down. OBD-II reader shows errors, but nothing consistent. Anyone seen this?

Whoa, that sounds familiar! I have a Lexus, too, though not an LFA, unfortunately. I had similar issues with my IS a while back – random system failures, warning lights flashing. Did the errors seem to coincide with anything specific, like bumps in the road or extreme temperatures?

Good question. No specific pattern that I can nail down. It's seemingly random – sun or shade, smooth road or not. You mentioned 'similar' issues... how did you finally resolve it?

Okay, here's the deal: in my case, it turned out to be a defective cable connection to the control unit – basically, a loose connection to the BUS system (the BUS system is sort of like the nervous system in your car - it delivers communication across the vehicle). Apparently, this is more common than you'd think. My local shop traced it, tightened the connection, and I haven’t seen the issue since. I'd suggest taking your LFA to a trusted mechanic and mentioning the BUS system connection as a possible culprit.

Excellent! Many thanks, I'll pass that along to my mechanic. Apparently it was indeed the cable connection of the control unit causing the problems - connection to the BUS system. Cost me 155€ including error diagnostics, so all good.
