Linea transmission fault code

I'm having a weird issue with my 2018 Fiat Linea, gasoline engine. It has about 87,907 km on it. Recently, the engine warning light has been popping up intermittently, and sometimes the transmission warning light too. I scanned it and it's throwing a fault code related to the transmission oil temperature sensor. When this happens, the gearbox sometimes goes into emergency mode, feels like it's slipping, shifts are unclean and occasionally I even hear some grinding noises when shifting. Could this be a faulty sensor, or is it something more serious?

That sounds like a pain. Is the gearbox oil level okay? Low oil level can definitely cause the sensor to throw a code, and create shifting issues. Have you checked that?

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't checked the gearbox oil level myself, to be honest. I wasn't sure where to even begin looking for it on this model. Should I try to check it myself, or is this better left to a professional?

Well, if you're not sure, it's probably best to have a workshop take a look. Continuing to drive it with a potential low oil level could cause further damage. Better safe than sorry, right? They can check the level, top it off if needed, and properly diagnose the sensor issue.

Okay, thanks for the advice! I took it to a local shop, and you were right, the gearbox oil level was low. Topped it off, replaced the faulty temperature sensor, and the warning lights are gone, shifts are smooth again. Total cost was 365€ Appreciate the help!
