Summary of the thread
A 2003 Mercedes M Klasse with a diesel engine is experiencing climate control issues, including non-functional automatic temperature control and air conditioning. A faulty interior temperature sensor is suspected as a potential cause. Sensor diagnostics is on my list for tomorrow. If that doesn't reveal anything, how did you fix your climate issues? Was it a simple sensor replacement?

Yes, the climate control was erratic. After checking the wiring, it turned out to be a faulty sensor. I advise you to check all the wiring and if that doesn't bring any solution, go to a workshop. The sensor replacement resolved the issue, but you need to ensure that's the actual problem. In a workshop, the sensor replacement should be around 95€.

Thanks for the input, climate control is working again. I followed your advice and went to a workshop, the sensor was the culprit, as suspected.

This sounds familiar. I had similar climate control issues on my M Klasse. Have you checked the sensor diagnostics? In my case, the climate regulation was completely off, and the air conditioning refused to engage. A defective cable or plug connection is a common cause. Has there been any prior work done on the system recently?
