M Klasse Emergency Call System Problem
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Mercedes M Klasse owner reported an emergency call system malfunction, indicated by a dashboard message and warning light. The issue was identified as a telematics problem, potentially caused by a faulty or corroded connector. A similar case was resolved by addressing a connector issue in the telematics unit, specifically in the trunk area. The owner successfully fixed the problem by cleaning the corroded connector and applying dielectric grease, eliminating the error.

A connector issue? Where was the connector located? I'm guessing it's part of the car's electronics. Any tips on where to start looking? I want to avoid taking the whole interior apart.

Yes, mine was a connector for the telematics unit itself. I ended up taking it to a workshop because I didn't want to mess with the airbag system. They fixed it quickly. It's worth getting it checked, especially if you suspect a cable or plug issue. You could try checking in the trunk area first, but be careful. The repair at the workshop cost around 95€.

Thanks for the information! I took it to my mechanic, and you were right it was a corroded connector for the emergency call module. A quick clean and some dielectric grease, and the error is gone. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

I think I had something similar on my M Klasse. I was getting an SOS signal error, and it was related to the emergency call system. Do you know what codes are being thrown? Mine was a faulty connector, but I can't remember the exact code.
