M Klasse Windshield Wiper Problems

That's interesting about the stalk switch impacting the windshield wipers! I have had some minor issues with the turn signal occasionally not engaging on the first try. How did you pinpoint the stalk switch as the culprit? Did you perform any specific tests, or was it more of a process of elimination? Did your error memory also have an error stored?

The turn signal thing is a big clue! The workshop used a diagnostic tool to monitor the signals coming from the stalk switch. The signal for the windshield wipers was intermittent, and the other functions were also a bit flaky, like your turn signal. They replaced the whole unit. Given your symptoms and the stored error, I'd suggest having a workshop take a look. It sounds suspiciously like the stalk switch, and they can confirm it with proper diagnostics before you start spending money on parts. Plus, 95€ isn't too bad for a proper diagnosis!

Thank you for your insights! Your experience proved invaluable. Following your advice, I took my M Klasse to a trusted workshop for a diagnostic assessment. As you suspected, the stalk switch was indeed the source of the wiper blade malfunction. The defective connection within the switch was also causing the intermittent turn signal behavior and triggering the stored error. I authorized the replacement, and now the windshield wipers are functioning flawlessly, and the turn signals are behaving as they should. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge!

Ugh, wiper problems! I had a similar issue in my older M Klasse, but with the gasoline engine. My windshield wipers would just stop mid-wipe. It turned out to be a dodgy connection in the stalk switch, the one for the turn signal, windshield wipers, and cruise control. Have you noticed any issues with your rain sensor, turn signal, or cruise control? Wiggling the stalk might coax the wipers back to life. It's a long shot!
